Farming Disputes
Farm Inheritance Disputes
We advise on:
-
Loved ones being “left out” of a will, or not being
adequately provided for from the deceased’s estate;
-
Contesting the validity of a will;
-
Promises broken in the provision actually made under the
deceased’s will;
-
Disputes between the executor(s) named under the will and
beneficiaries of the estate;
- Advising on the administration of a deceased person’s
estate;
Acting as neutral administrator of an estate where parties
are in dispute.
-
Problems can happen due a lack of clear arrangements, no
will ( an intestacy) and is so a poorly written
one.
Another common reason for inheritance disputes within
farming families is broken promises. It’s not uncommon for relatives to make
informal agreements about who will inherit what, or who will run the farm after
they’re gone. Unfortunately, these agreements are not always honoured.
