It is fully understandable as legal fees are not cheap but increasingly I am coming across parties in litigation who are doing it themselves without the benefit of legal advice.
There are so many risks with this including:
1. A DIY litigant is running blind often basing an opinion of the case on his or her understanding rather than a clear objective view of the case.
2 A DIY litigant does not have the sense of understanding to make tactical steps which can significantly enhance one's position in a case.
3. A DIY litigant is often clouded by emotion rather than facts.
4 A DIY litigant is not only more likely to make tactical errors but also more prone to have costs awards made against him or her.
