When a person dies, somebody has to deal with their estate (money, property and possessions) by collecting in all the money and assets, paying all debts and tax, and distributing what is left to those people entitled to it.
At Human Law we deal with the administration of the estate of a loved one on your behalf. We understand that dealing with a loved one’s affairs can be time consuming, complex and often very stressful.
We will help take this worry away and deal with the matter in a professional and efficient way within a clear charging structure.
We offer a simple and straightforward service to our clients. Right from the start, we counsel you in a sympathetic advice which explains without the jargon, the probate procedure and what work we’ll be carrying out.
We keep you updated throughout the process.
There are two broad fee charging services:
GRANT ONLY SERVICE (
What is a Grant of Representation?)
If you are seeking the costs of obtaining the grant only.
The obtaining of a grant of probate can be a time consuming and stressful task. It involves personal attendance at Court and higher court fees are payable on a personal application. We offer a service whereby we will prepare the papers to lead to a grant of probate and make application to the Court on your behalf.
For an estate worth under £500,000 the costs involved are:
Human Law Solicitors' fee £500.00
VAT @ 20% £100.00
Probate Court fee (to include 5 office copies of the grant) £50.00
Commissioner's fee on your swearing the papers £7.00
The fees quoted above are for obtaining the grant of probate only and do not include acting in the full administration of the estate.
Please note we shall require sight of the original Will and death certificate, and the executors will be required to produce identification to comply with money laundering regulations.
Alternatively if you wish us to take over the full administration of the estate, we offer the following:
TOTAL SERVICE
